We are excited to announce the latest in our program of Rural Landholder Initiative workshops aimed to educate and empower our rural communities as they investigate innovative ways to manage their properties. Our latest workshop will focus on the principles of landscape hydration, managing the flow of water to improve rural productivity AND environmental outcomes.

You will learn how you can utilise Landscape Hydration Works to

  • Restore your Landscape’s function
  • Increase your farms’ productivity and profitability
  • Build your natural capital
  • Play your part in managing climate change

Discover strategies to manage water flow and enhance productivity on rural properties. Special guest presenter Stuart Andrews of Tarwyn Park Training will introduce the principles of Landscape Hydration Works. Learn how these principles can restore landscape function, increase farm profitability, and contribute to climate change management. The workshop includes presentations and visits to local sites implementing landscape hydration techniques. Limited spots available, so secure yours today.

We will Introduce Stuart Andrew’s of Tarwyn Park Training as our special guest presenter for the event. Stuart established Tarwyn Park Training in 2012 “To build resilient landscapes by educating landholders, organisations and governments on Natural Sequence Farming.”

Stuart’s mission follows from the seminal works of his father, Peter Andrews, who, after moving to a run-down, salinized, seriously eroded and degraded former horse stud, Tarwyn Park, in 1974, developed an understanding of landscape function which became known as Natural Sequence Farming. His vision pioneered a system in which land stewards manage their landscapes in symbiosis with the natural sequences present in the landscape.

Stuart will explain the five principles of Landscape Hydration works which start by managing the flow of water, and extends to a wholistic system that manages vegetation, livestock and infiltration to provide benefits to the overall landscape, including biodiversity and increased rural production.

“Natural Sequence Farming used throughout our environments can result in the rehydration of landscapes, regeneration of soils and the restoration of our ecosystems.”

The workshop will be held at one of our local rural halls (details available upon registration). The day will include a mix of presentation and interactive, visual sessions outside. We will visit nearby sites where landscape hydration works have been integral to managing the landscape and productivity of our local farmers. We hope the workshop will bring interested landholder together allowing them to share their own experience and knowledge of reading and managing their land and hear of some of the innovative techniques being used to manage our rural landscapes.

Council will provide morning tea and a lunch. Please advise of any dietary requirements.
